Six fifth grade students were nominated by their teachers to participate in the Possible Dream program that is sponsored by Delta College. On June 15, 2023, the following students were inducted into the program during a ceremony at Delta: Hunter Clark, Ethan Colvin, Elizabeth Drews, Chase MacDonald (pictured here with Mrs. LeFevre), Arianna Rooks, and Riley Tidwell. The Possible Dream Program encourages students to reach their highest potential, with priority consideration for a Delta College scholarship when they graduate. Students are provided cultural and educational opportunities that broaden their horizons. Students are exposed to college life and are given the opportunity to explore higher education. The ultimate goal for all Possible Dream participants is to graduate from high school and then go on to college. That is made possible by special scholarships to those who attend Delta College. The Possible Dream Program has made a significant impact on thousands of children by giving them a reason to believe in their dreams. Delta College has confirmed that 70% of graduating Possible Dream students have gone on to college. All activities are free to Possible Dream Program participants. The Possible Dream Program is fully funded by the generosity of sponsors and attendees of “A Chocolate Affair,” the annual fundraising event. Students in grades 5, 6, and 7 are selected from schools in Bay, Midland, and Saginaw counties. Over 2,300 students have been a part of the program since its inception in 1992.

We've made some changes to our 2023-2024 Jr/Sr High handbook regarding our cell phone policy! For more information, you can view our new handbook here: https://5il.co/xoqv Also, feel free to check out an overview of all of this year's changes here: https://5il.co/20p7o More phone policy info that couldn't fit on the image: -in the event a phone is used without permission in the school, the phone will be confiscated. Having the device taken away a first time will result in the student giving the device to the staff member and it can be given back to the student at the end of the hour. The second time, the student may pick the device up at the office at the end of the school day. A third time results in a contact to the parent/guardian who will then need to come to the school office to retrieve the device for the child. Any additional times may result in arrangements between the parent & administration pertaining to no longer having the device in school. - If the phone is used in any illegal manner (including threats and bullying, improper video, sexting), there will be disciplinary actions and the parent(s) and possibly the police will be notified.

tardies policy change
This year, we've made some adjustments to our Student Cell Phone Policy in the Jr/Sr High handbook. Why the Change? We believe that the new policy will: Decrease Distraction, Improve Academic Success, Build Community Within the School, Improve Mental Health, and Decrease Bullying and Mean Moments. Handbook Verbiage: Board Policy allows students to have cell phones at school. The phone should be turned off or on silent and in student lockers during the school day. This is in all school spaces, except the ones explained next. High school students ONLY may access and use their devices during their lunch/recess time. If a student needs to make contact with a parent during the school day , with staff permission, the student may ONLY come to the office to use the office phone or his/her cell phone (obtained from the locker with staff permission). Parents may contact the office to leave messages for their child. In the event a phone is used without permission in the school, the phone will be confiscated. Having the device taken away the first time, will result in the student giving the device to the staff member and it can be given back to the student at the end of the hour. The second time, the student may pick the device up at the office at the end of the school day. A third time results in a contact to the parent/guardian who will then need to come to the school office to retrieve the device for the child. Any additional times may result in arrangements between the parent & Administration pertaining to no longer having the device in school. If the phone is used in any illegal manner (including threats and bullying, improper video, sexting), there will be disciplinary actions and the parent(s) and possibly the police will be notified. Students with medical conditions requiring regular access to a cell phone may have their phone as long as there is documentation from a medical provider on file in the office.

While visting NYC, Brayden Servis and his family attended a pre-taping of Live with Kelly and Mark. When they asked for volunteers to audition to be the trivia dancer, Brayden, much to the his family's shock, volunteered. The producer invited him and three ladies to the stage to compete. The audience then cheered for who they wanted, cheering loudest for Brayden! On that episode, he dances as the lead in for the trivia question and answers a couple of Mark's questions. Brayden's episode will air August 7 at 9am on ABC. You'll see him about 15 mintues in. Can't wait to see it!
