Our sincere thanks to Geneva Township Board members who recognized a way to support Coleman Schools and made it happen. Earlier this year the Board of Education was presented with "Stop the Bleed" kits for each school building, gifted by the Geneva Township Board. These kits provide yet another level of safety for our students and staff in case of an emergency. Thank you, Geneva Township Board.

Mrs. Torreano has launched her "1,000 Cranes" project in her JH SEL class a couple of weeks ago. Every student has successfully completed at least one origami crane! Some students have already made more and have become project ambassadors to help lead the initiative. This project is based on the Japanese legend that anyone who folds 1,000 paper cranes will be granted either a lifetime of happiness or one wish. While the goal is to make 1,000 cranes, the students are also practicing mindfulness, extending their ability to concentrate on tasks, helping other students, and improving self confidence through learning new skills that may seem hard at first.

The last week of September was Midland County’s Neighboring Week -- and our elementary students celebrated it! They discussed their neighborhoods and how they can be kind neighbors. Then, they decorated a house to add to our school neighborhood bulletin board. Even Deputy Hodges joined in on the fun!

There will be no school for Elementary or Jr/Sr High students and staff tomorrow, Friday, 10.6.2023. Picture Day at the Jr/Sr High School will be rescheduled. Varsity football will still travel to Merrill tomorrow for the game. Students who are transported to the ESA Special Education programs will still be provided transportation. Students who attend CTE programs at other schools as part of the consortium can still attend those programs if they choose and have transportation. We hope by getting this to you as quickly as possible, it will help with your planning. At 2:30 this afternoon, we lost water at the Jr/Sr High School due to a maintenance situation with our backflow system and a leak that was quickly addressed by our maintenance crew. We greatly appreciate their quick action to limit the issue. The main water supply to the whole building is shut down until this issue can be repaired. The company has already been in the building and parts are being overnighted. We anticipate repairs will be completed tomorrow, but not until late morning/early afternoon. With the Jr/Sr High closed tomorrow, we will also have the Elementary students stay home; we would not meet our attendance requirements to count the school day tomorrow.

This week is all about Custodians/Maintenance Staff. These guys work so hard every day to help all of us out. They keep things running as efficiently as possible, ensure our facilities are safe, and reflect our Comet Pride. Please reach out to each of them (Troy, Matt, Jim, Dan, Jason S., Jason H., and Wade) at some point this week. Drop them a quick note, say a little thank you, or give them a small token of appreciation... or if you have their cell number, maybe send them a fun text for a change!
