Senior Kapre Lynch represented Coleman this weekend. She finished the day in 1st Place for her weight class with a total competition personal record of 620lbs. She went 7 for 9 on her lifts and set competition PRs in Bench (125lbs) and Deadlift (300lbs). She also ended with a Squat of 195lbs. We also had Coleman and Powerlifting Alumni, Matt MacPhee, make the drive over to support and take pictures for Kapre. Overall, it was a great day and a great start to the Powerlifting Season. After her competition today, Kapre is in a good position to qualify for the MHSPLA State Meet in early March.

Coleman Schools will have a 2-hour delay today, Monday, December 16th due to a few icy roads and fog, which should improve a little later this morning. Buses will still run to the ESA for those students in ESA programs. 1st and 2nd hour English and Social Studies exams at the Jr/Sr High will begin tomorrow. Exams will be held for English and Social Studies starting with 3rd hour today. Ag and Culinary at Coleman for the morning are not running due to the delay and students going to other CTE programs for the morning will not have bussing but may drive themselves if they wish. I have heard from some people that the voice message that went out was blank; my apologies for that. A text and email were sent to help with that. Again, sorry for the disruption.

Thanks to our CMU student, Arriana Macedo, 6th graders learned the history of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and about the inventor of the famous balloons featured in the parade. Students then planned and created their own parade balloons.

Every fall, the PTO puts together an apple pie and gift card fundraiser. The funds raised help pay for the 6th grade field trip to Mystic Lake in the spring. Students look forward to this overnight camping trip every year! Just before Thanksgiving, the orders of 170 pies were completed in record time thanks to the help of 6th grade students and parents. Volunteers helped put down plastic, prep tables and pie containers, weigh apples, and assemble the pies - complete with the crumble topping. Chef Jacob from the culinary arts program, and several other staff members including Mrs. Lynch, Ms. Timlin, Mrs. Pelletier, and Ms. Lovejoy, joined in the fun. Thank you to those who helped and to those who purchased pies!

The JH girls played their last game against Ashley on the same floor that the high school players use every day. They came out with another victory based on some solid defense and Treva Robinson's 24 points. Olivia Hegel defended the hoop with a number of blocks. Teagan Kennedy hit her first 3-pointer late in the game.

Mrs. Pelletier's 3rd graders learned how difficult it was to be a Voyaguer, French explorer, or fur trader at the "Pelt to Felt" program at Chippewa Nature Center. They discussed period clothing, different jobs within the giant canoes, and "racing" to get furs to the trading post. They also learned the importance of the beaver pelt and other resources traded between the European explorers and the indigenoious people. The kids had a great time and staff are greatful to include these vaulable trips into the curriculum.

Junior High Girls traveled to Vestaburg tonight and came out with two tough finals. The 7th graders were edged out by Vestaburg 21-16 and the 8th graders ended up outhustling them for a 22-18 victory. Brystal Berthume was a dynamo on both ends of the floor for the 8th graders with 16 of the 22 points and double-digit steals on the defensive end. Both teams finish the season tomorrow afternoon at 4:30 for one combined game on Coleman's home floor against Ashley. This game is not at the family center, so come out and give these girls the HS feel they will experience the next few years.

Our fantastic Jr/Sr High Secretaries- Mrs. Bell (who hasn't learned yet how to retire and is helping train our newest team member- lucky us!), Mrs. Sian (who is not allowed to ever retire), Mrs. Porter (who is always smiling and splits her time between buildings) and Mr. Willard (Athletic Dept. secretary who has been a perfect addition and fits right in with this crew and is great to our kids). Happy Holidays everybody!
