From Mr. Zink: Hello Comets! Today’s theme for AmeriCorps Week is "Team Tuesday." Share what you love about your team and/or the impact your team has made.
It was so fitting that today I got to attend one of our reoccurring Postsecondary Support Team meetings sponsored by our Local College Access Network: Midland Area Career and College Access Network. They bring together key staff at higher education institutions (admissions, financial aid, and career centers,) county college advisors, AmeriCorps college advisers, community stakeholders within various support/resource groups, high school counselors/community education partners, Midland Area Community Foundation staff, and more. We meet to learn about county opportunities/resources for our students, we share events , ideas, and best practices to best support the populations we serve, and we stay up-to-date on relevant topics within postsecondary planning. I love the support and creativity that this group constantly contributes!
Are you part of a team that you wish to highlight? Comment below what you love about your team, or the impact you have.

On Friday, Mr. Liechty was walking around the Midland Mall Comic Con when student Marlena Burns found him. She had entered in the Kid’s Cosplay Contest as a Sakura from Cardcaptor Sakura. Great job, Marlena!

From Mr. Zink: Today is “Movement Monday:” Share a photo or tip on how you plan to move throughout the day. Since it’s so sunny and warm outside, I’m going for a walk after my service day. Today is also Day of the ‘A,’ so I wanted to show off my AmeriCorps gear!
Comment below how many AmeriCorps items you see me wearing. How are you planning to move throughout the day?

Help us welcome these newest additions to the Comet Family: Mr. Kyle DeVrieze, Mr. Rob Glazier, Mrs. Christine Rease, and Mr. Joshua Sampson.
☄️ Kyle DeVrieze & Rob Glazier have been volunteering with the Boys' Basketball teams for the past couple of years. They will be Co-Assistant Coaches with Boys' Basketball moving forward. We would like to thank them for their commitment to the athletes and the sport as well as the knowledge they bring to it. Welcome to the Comet family!
☄️ Chris Rease began with us as a substitute paraprofessional at the Jr/Sr High but had also interviewed with us and is now a formal employee. She has been a great addition for her kindness, care of students and skill in building relationships and helping students stay on track. Weclome Mrs. Rease!
☄️ Welcome to Mr. Joshua Sampson who will be a new team member with us starting March 10th. Mr. Sampson will be one of our Jr/Sr High English Teachers and he comes to us from Bay City Academy. Mr. Sampson has six years of teaching experience along with being an adjunct professor at Delta teaching writing. He also has a background as a journalist for some years prior to teaching. His passion and excitement about teaching students English and writing is very evident, even including having run Book Studies and Creative Writing Clubs for students. He comes highly recommended by those who did not want to see him leave as their teammate or staff member and is incredibly genuine and personable. We're excited to bring him on board. Welcome Mr. Sampson!
Welcome to all of them!

Our own Comet, Dakota Lattimer, dug deep in his first match of the state tournament. With 20 seconds remaining in the match, down 11-7, he pinned his opponent. I think his classmates were with him. He's moving on.
