Last week, the third grade classes went to Chippewa Nature Center to learn about the natural resources used by indigenous peoples in Michigan. It was a great trip!
CNC provides hands-on science, ag, and social studies lessons to our students both in district and through field trips. This valuable partnership we have with CNC is funded through grants (free money that must be spent on specific items) from local organizations that allow us to integrate real-world agriscience skills into our K - 8th grade science curriculum. It's a unique opportunity that we are lucky to take advantage of (and the kids enjoy it, too!).

A huge thank you to our School Volunteers! We recognize and celebrate all the hard work and dedication of the volunteers who give their time and resources to support our schools. You contribute to the successes and achievements of our staff and students daily. Thank you all immensely! #ColemanCometPride

Welcome to Mrs. Katie Ward, who has begun with us as Reading/Writing Interventionist at the Elementary! Mrs. Ward will work with Mrs. Jones in these positions and we are fortunate to have her as she brings with her a great deal of knowledge and skill. Mrs. Ward has also been subbing with us for some time so our students are familiar with her. Please help her feel welcome!

Even Leo loves the "Home of the Comets!" K-9 Leo and his handler, Officer Thielen of the Midland Police Department, were at the Jr/Sr High last week, and we appreciate them stopping by! Leo first visited us when he was a puppy and full of energy; he's now an older and wiser 6-year-old - and very smart and sweet! Thanks to Officer Thielen and Leo for coming to see us and posing for this picture!

Leading the Pledge tonight was 1st grader Lyle and 3rd grader Emalee! They earned this special honor by being leaders in their classroom. It was a pleasure to see them tonight! Thank you Lyle, Emalee, and your families for coming out this evening. #growingforthefuture

Upcoming CMU youth basketball camp, ages 7-14, boys and girls. Check it out!

On Tuesday, April 9th both Third Grade classes visited the Coleman Library for the SmartKids Money program. Students participated in a "sticker store" activity where they were given some “money” to spend or save as they chose. Thanks to our teachers for finding unique ways to incorporate real life examples in their lessons to help students really understand what they're learning, and thank you to the library for hosting this event! #growingforthefuture #ColemanComets

Now it's the custodial crew's turn! Elementary staff/students took the time to recognize all the super important things this awesome crew of people provide for them daily. Thank you custodians for keeping our school clean and operating smoothly!
