Welcome to Mrs. Kayla Dennis! She started with us a few weeks ago to work with Mrs. Weber to learn all the ins and outs of a School Nurse/Health Resource Advocate (HRA) position as Mrs. Weber takes a position closer to her home.
This position is now paid through a grant with the State and Mrs. Dennis is hired by the ESA. However, because of the grant, the position has been extended and Mrs. Dennis will be with us full time Monday-Friday during the school year and working on student and parent health information during the summer. The rest of the process will be very much the same as with Mrs. Weber.
We are incredibly excited to have Mrs. Dennis and all of her expertise involved in the district to support the health of our students and staff as well as providing students and parents with health education. Please help her feel welcome!
Girl’s Basketball Open Gyms:
Monday 7/29 4:30 pm-6:30 pm
Tuesday 7/30 4:30 pm-6:30 pm
Wednesday 7/31 4:30 pm-6:30 pm
Open gyms will be held at the Coleman Jr/Sr High School gymnasium. Open gyms are open to anyone entering grades 7th-12th. We will be working on fundamentals and gaining a good understanding of basketball skills before starting the season.

Does YOUR district have a built-in health clinic? This clinic, run by MidMichigan Community Health Services within Coleman Elementary School, brings to Coleman access to care for children ages 5-21 throughout the school district. Students have access to a variety of services including but not limited to sports physicals, immunizations, mental health services, and first aid treatment. Currently, only Coleman students have access to clinic services . . . so if you haven't enrolled yet make sure you do! We are pleased to share some fantastic news with you!
During the spring, Mr. Cowell, Transportation Director, and Mrs. McCormack, Superintendent, researched the viability, cost and benefits of providing an in-town transportation route(s) to those students who do not currently have that option. At our June Board of Education meeting, the Board approved this route as part of the budget beginning with the 2024-2025 school year.
Parents of Coleman Schools with a child(ren) living within our in-town boundaries will now have the option of being transported by school bus starting with the 2024-2025 school year. Each family in town will be assigned a pick-up/drop-off point close to their home. Many of those families received an email this weekend sharing the information. If you are new to the district or have moved in town and have questions, please feel free to contact us.
Later this summer, Mr. Cowell will reach out to each of these families to determine if they would like to take advantage of this option for their child(ren) and provide them with times.
We hope this change will be beneficial to many of our families and make things a bit easier for them. Enjoy the rest of your summer!

Panama Day 8: The Comets made their way back home on Friday, but not before getting in one last amazing hike! Zach, Adriana, and Miss J woke up early to hike Ancón Hill for one last beautiful view before heading out. They even saw two different kinds of sloths not far off the trail! After the early hike, the Comets packed up to head for the airport. They made it back to Coleman after a quick sprint through the Atlanta airport, and are all safe and happy at home!
