Each month, we pick two K-6th graders that nominated themselves to recite the Pledge of Allegiance onstage at the Board Meeting to get the meeting started. Practicing public speaking even at a young age is super beneficial! Way to #LEADLikeAComet!
So, what do we use the CCS Endowment Fund for? This past school year we funded three projects that were proposed by staff members. Project #3 funded in-classroom Calming Centers for students K-2nd grade! Calming Centers are intended to provide students with regulation tools they can use to obtain and keep body and emotional regulation while remaining in the classroom in order to promote learning and a safe space for all. 5th graders attended a leadership conference and brought back all kinds of great ideas to implement into our annual Kindness Week celebration! Students planned out the week's events themselves, and shared what they learned about being good friends to others. #LEADLikeAComet
Friday was Food Service Staff Recognition Day! This crew rises early to feed TONS of kids twice daily. They work in the loudest space in the building and come in with smiles and good food every day. Thank you all for keeping our students well fed - we greatly appreciate your efforts!

Junior Lillian Rice attended the Midland Section of the American Society Awards Banquet on Wednesday, April 30th. Lillian was nominated for having the highest GPA in Chemistry in Coleman High School this year!
The 5th graders had a great time at Chippewa Nature Center getting some hands-on experience and learning more about nature's food chain.

We are excited for our upcoming annual Leadership day at Coleman Elementary on Friday, May 16. We will be starting with a school-wide picnic lunch at 12:00, then games and Leader In Me presentations in the class, a habit parade and final habit huddle of the year at the track. Families and community members are welcome!! Can't wait to see you all there.

On Tuesday, April 29th, Members of the Jazz Band and Choir performed at the MSAC Talent Review. Schools across the MSAC each sent three acts to perform. Those acts were judged and the top 8 were chosen to be a part of the Traveling Talent Show, performing in each of the schools over the next week. We're excited to say that our Jazz Band and Choir performance of SIX were both chosen to be a part of the Traveling show!
