Please join us in welcoming some new staff to our buildings! (And some current staff in some new roles!)

☄️ Ms. Nichole Russell has joined us and is a paraprofessional at the Jr/Sr High this year. Ms. Russell is coming to us from another career and just wanted an opportunity to work with kids. She has a very kind and caring demeanor and we are excited to have her on board!

☄️Ms. Sam Cochran is a paraprofessional at the Elementary and has worked in ABA programs with students with special needs for several years. This brings a lot of training and knowledge to her role. Welcome to Ms. Cochran!

☄️Ms. Rebekah Braley will be splitting her time as a paraprofessional between the Elementary and Jr/Sr High on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays as she takes classes at CMU the other days, in the area of education. Ms. Braley will also work at the Culinary building to assist Chef Moore before her para shift, through our SRSA grant. She is a great asset to the role!

☄️We would also like to give a big welcome to Ms. Gracelynn Ibarra, intern with our School Psychologist, Christa Starkey-Brown this year. We are really lucky to have yet another intern with us.

☄️ English Teacher Mr. Joshua Sampson is stepping into the role of NHS Advisor. He is interested in being even more involved and connecting with students through their extracurriculars while getting them involved in more community and service-learning activities. This is a great direction for the group and building on their leadership skills. Thanks, Mr. Sampson!

☄️ Ms. Megan Andrews and Ms. Jennifer (Rooks) Chambers are the new Freshman Co-Advisors! Both of them are most interested in making the events fun for the students and getting those students involved who usually are not, along with all of the others. They can't wait to work with all of you!

☄️Ms. Carla Jones is returning to the elementary school as our new ELA consultant through Clare-Gladwin RESD! Carla was an interventionist for us a few years ago, and we're incredibly happy to have her back with us.

☄️Finally, congratulations to Mrs. Kaleigh (Boggs) Smalley, who is taking over our Jr/Sr High School Student Council role! She will still be our Athletic Secretary and our College/Career Advisor, and we're very grateful for that! Thanks for taking more on, Kaleigh!

We have a couple of new Comet staff members to welcome! ☄️

Welcome to Mrs. Melissa Newman, who will be our new special education secretary! ☄️ Mrs. Newman has been a paraprofessional sub and currently also works part-time for Greater Midland in Midland as a receptionist. She comes to us with a lot of excitement to work in our school in this position, really strong organizational skills, and a positive personality. One person also shared that Mrs. Newman will tackle any problem, find the answers and was the go-to person in their office. We're incredibly excited to introduce her to all of you.

Second, welcome back to Ms. Shayla Jolliff! ☄️ Ms. Jolliff will be joining us this year full-time. She will be teaching Year 2 & 3 Ag, along with teaching other Jr & Sr High Science classes. Ms. Jolliff was a student teacher in the Ag program last year. She has not only her Ag degree, but has worked toward her biology minor as well. Her willingness to work with every student, tackle new challenges, come together with great ideas and projects, and take on any courses asked of her is greatly appreciated. We're excited that she is officially joining the Comet team.

Welcome to Ms. Logan Spray, who will be the new JH Volleyball Coach! Coach Spray has personal experience in many different athletics and volleyball is her favorite. She has also been a volunteer coach with several different sports. Coach Spray brings with her a strong understanding of working with students and student athletes of this age, as her "day job" is in leading students and teachers. She also shared her passion for guiding the students to help them excel as a team, in the volleyball fundamentals and academically so they are ready to move forward both in sports and their school careers.

Some of you may have seen Coach Spray around the district already as she has been volunteering with some of our events. She will be a great asset to the team! Please help her feel welcome.
