The high school Spanish class practiced their skills by writing comic strips en español last week! Can you read what they wrote? If you have a student in the Elementary School, they might be able to help translate! Our school district proudly offers K-12 Spanish classes for all students. #growingforthefuture

Olivia Hegel is spending her weekend at Comerica Park! She went to Detroit Tigers Camp over the summer and won first place in her age group. This picture is from Tigers Champion Day. She will compete against 9 other girls from the other camps (they only picked the top 10 girls with the highest scores) . Good luck this weekend, Olivia! #LEADLikeAComet #CometPride #Coleman

Today is Tech./Communications Recognition Day for the District! Between Mrs. Laurie Bell, Mrs. Natalie Kalitta, Mr. Jim Burkhart, Mr. Brian Cone, Ms. Emily VanSickle, Mr. Zack MacPhee and Mr. James Schaefer, we have the best people around. These people do their "other" jobs throughout the day and then add to that, they keep our technology up-to-date and humming along and share all the amazing events and progress happening here at the school in new and fun ways. Thank you to each one of them! If you have a moment today, please stop them and say thanks, give them a small token of appreciation or share a note with them to recognize their work.

In only the second week of school, it sounds like the students in Mr. Falor's Finance Class are already learning tons! They're working on setting SMART goals, short and long-term education and financial goals, and using tools like the Ramsey Investment Calculator to help them see the value of investments. Did you know your retirement savings could end up being TWICE as much if you start investing at age 18 versus age 26?! Check out the Ramsey Investment Calculator here to see an example just one of the things students are learning at Coleman Schools. https://www.ramseysolutions.com/retirement/investment-calculator

The Jr/Sr High students recently received some new recess equipment! The equipment was purchased after sending out a survey to get feedback last year from parents, students and staff on their recommendations for district safety and wellness needs. You asked . . . We responded! Thanks for sharing your thoughts! #LEADLikeAComet

Mrs. Hess wanted to shout-out these seniors she noticed making lunchtime fun by choosing to play Spoons when they could have chosen to be on their phones. We love to see our Comets having fun! #ColemanCometPride

Congratulations to Mrs. Nicole Howdyshell on being named as the High School Sideline Cheer Coach for this fall! Mrs. Howdyshell is a teacher in the building and has her own background with cheer at a young age. She is excited to get started and do something a bit different with our students as her own boys are getting a bit older. Thanks for taking on this role to work with our athletes, Mrs. Howdyshell! Congrats also to Ms. Laken Berthume! Coach Berthume will be the new Varsity Girls' Basketball Coach and has already set up some Open Gym times for our 7th-12th graders. She has been coaching JV for a few years with us and we are happy she is taking on this next challenge. Best of luck, Coach and girls, with your season this year!

Our Ignite videography club has been so successful that we have extended it an additional 2 weeks. Students have learned how to splice, add music and make edits to come up with a delicious video (posted separately) that our extended Cooking Club students made for this collaboration project. This coincided with our WCMU career readiness field trip to learn and get the behind-the-scenes of different types of careers in the MultiMedia Field. Ty Klopf has been an additional and welcoming fresh breath of air with our students and they have really taken to him. It shows by how they show up and are willing and wanting to participate in the lessons he has planned. Learn more about this awesome program at their site here: https://sites.google.com/cgresd.net/ignite-chs?usp=sharing
