Each week, Coleman staff members recognize each other for going above and beyond for colleagues, students or the District in some way. We also know we have a lot of students who do the same. Mr. Brown, Science/Coding teacher shared this recent "Shout-Out" about one of his students, Sara Husted. "This may be unconventional for a shout-out but I had a new student start today 8 weeks into 8th grade coding. I knew they were coming today and was trying to plan well to get them up to speed. "While we were trying to decide the new student's seat, Sara Husted offered to have the student sit next to her and her seat partner. Before I knew it, Sara was advocating for the student and came to me asking for Google classroom login, and to send her the invite for the coding online classroom and was showing the student how to do some things with coding. "I am proud to see our Comets lead like this and I hope there is a way that we can recognize her for stepping up and helping a new student transition to our school. Whether that be a shout out or not, I would like you to be aware of this student being a great citizen without anyone requesting it. I am proud of the compassion, understanding and maturity that was on full display. I just wanted to recognize Sara Husted for this." ~ David Brown, Teacher

The Boys' Bowling team brought home some points on the 22 with a Baker match win and some Peterson match points for a total of 7 points! Big credit goes out to the team's dedication to learning and growing each time we bowl. Last but certainly not least, Jacob Butters bowled a 222; his best completion score to-date! Then followed this accomplishment up with an impressive 192! This is outstanding scoring for high school competition! Great job, keep working hard and Go Comets!! - Coach David Brown

Jacob Butters has his bowling stance down pat! He bowled a 180 with four strikes in a row first practice and game back after winter break, the great news is this isn’t even his personal best game yet. Way to go Jacob, keep up the good work! Go Comets! #ColemanComets #growingforthefuture

Given that the Jr/Sr High staff and students did not have enough time this week to prepare for exams, we are changing up the format of next week a bit. Please see our new schedule below: Monday, 1/15: Students will be given an extra day of review in all of their classes. Tuesday, 1/16-Thursday, 1/17: Students will be given exams in their classes. Teachers will be communicating on Monday to students and their parents what day(s) they are giving the exam in their classes. Families should expect emails from the teachers letting you know when to be prepared for the exam in each of their classes.

United Bay Community Credit Union very recently joined our community and immediately reached out to the district to ask what they could do to support updating the old scoreboards, which served us well for many years. Last Friday, we were excited to unveil our brand new gym scoreboards, generously and entirely paid for by United Bay! With their donation, nothing has come out of the pockets of our community to finance this project. These boards will be used for volleyball, wrestling, and basketball throughout the year and assist us in continuing to update the look of our Jr/Sr High gymnasium. A sincere thank you to United Bay Community Credit Union and its representatives for their support. Joining us from the UBCCU team that evening was Diane Abbonizio, Doug Kelly, Kerri Singley, Jen Shelby, Mackenzie Shelby, Leslie Webb, and Jayna Hafelein. A special thank you to Emily Burgess who was not able to be here that night, for her tremendous efforts and support to make this happen. Thank you all!
