11th and 12th grade students were invited to a college and career fair at CMU in October. Students had the opportunity to visit with college and career reps and learn more about postsecondary offerings. Students also got to go on a tour of campus and eat lunch in one of the dining halls on campus. We had a very large group of students in attendance to this event - way to show up, Comets! #LEADLikeAComet
It's MHSAA Tournament Time!
The Varsity Volleyball team will be on the road to Vestaburg this evening as they will take on the Wolverine's in the 2nd District Semi-Final of the day at approximately 7:00 pm.
The winner advanced to the District Final on Thursday, also at Vestaburg.

Members of the Comet high school football program took a break after their annual fall cleanup day. If you are interested in a fall yard cleanup, this is an item up for auction each winter at the Coleman Athletic Boosters Bonanza. Stay tuned for upcoming information about that event.

This duo brings a ton of experience, relationships and a love and knowledge of the sport. At a recent JV/Varsity football practice, athletes stopped everything to stand for the National Anthem they overheard playing at the Junior High game nearby! Our high school runners will be off on Friday to run in the MHSAA Regionals at Shepherd High School. The event time has been adjusted and the Boys will be running at 2:00 pm and the girls will be at 3:00 pm.
Parking for Spectators: They are asking you to take 2nd Street to get to a parking lot, DO NOT park in the lot closest to school as they will still be in session, and DO NOT come down 4th Street.
You will need to use GoFan for tickets or you can use a credit card at the event. $8 per person.
There will also be live stream available on NFHS.
It was Senior Night in Coleman for the Comet Varsity Volleyball Team, and as you can see even Coach was into the theme of "senior" night!
We enjoyed celebrating the volleyball careers of our three seniors: Bailey, Sydney, and Hannah. Along with the celebration of our senior athletes, we got to celebrate a three game sweep of The Baldwin Panthers for the Comet Victory!
One last regular season date on the calendar as the Comets JV & Varsity will travel to Saginaw on Thursday to take on the Cardinals of Michigan Lutheran Seminary.

Students in Mr. McCormack's Zoology class took advantage of the newly renovated science lab this week to learn dissecting protocol. 🧪 Right now they are focusing on mollusks, a diverse filum. A dissection of the clam is a simple project. Next, they will launch into dissection of squid, the most advanced invertebrate. 🦑
In Mr. Klopf's Health class this week, freshmen role-played through different situations to practice the use of refusal skills - behavioral strategies and communication techniques used to say "no" to peer pressure, risky behaviors, and unwanted social situations. Lessons like these are essential to empowering our students to set clear boundaries and protect their health and safety!

Our Food Services team celebrated Apple Crunch Day last week by setting up some displays for Elementary and Jr/Sr High students to sample! 🍎🍏 Apple Crunch Day encourages healthy eating and supports apple growers right here in Michigan. Looks delicious!!
Creative Writing class students participated in the MSAC Writing Competition on Friday! Students did well and submitted three stories based on this month’s fantasy prompt! 📝
10th graders went to the MiCareer Quest event at SVSU last week! They experienced hands-on exploration of a multitude of different career opportunities! One of our 10th graders, Eddie Szostkowski, beat an E-Sports record and won a scholarship to Northwood University! Congratulations, Eddie!
The Jr/Sr High staff enjoyed some great colleague collaboration time during the staff meeting last week! They were discussing best teaching practices.
Seniors participated in College Application Day last week! Seniors who are planning to attend college after high school completed college applications, created their FSA IDs they will need for the FAFSA, and completed other college prep steps. Students who are not planning to attend college explored career pathways in areas that they are interested in or looked into trade apprenticeship requirements and steps.
