Chase and Adriana did an excellent job leading the pledge of allegiance tonight at the board meeting! We love to give our student leaders this special honor each month; it's always our favorite part of each meeting. Thank you for representing Coleman Elementary so well!

Your high school bowling team started practice last week! Coach Francis and Coach Brown are excited to announce a girl's roster of eight bowlers as well as a boy's roster of eight bowlers. Comets will be practicing on Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:30PM - 5PM. Parent permission forms are required if students need a ride from a coach. We will be bowling in two conferences this year, on Monday nights and Saturday mornings. We will announce a parent meeting on a practice night when we have all of the places and times decided. We are all really excited for a great season this year, go Comets!!!

Matt Sysak was a WatchDOG with us Thursday, Nov. 9th. He's working in the library with his son, Crase (second from left) and some other students from Ms. Lovejoy's 1st grade class. Thanks for your help, Mr. Matt!

Congratultions to Vance Sysak (pictured back, far right) who was recognized for the DAR Good Citizens Award last Friday for Coleman Schools! Recipients of this annual award must exhibit qualities of dependability, service, patriotism, and leadership as determined by teachers and staff.

Congratulations to Ms. Summer Yancer who will be starting her position as the Competitive Cheer Coach! Coach Yancer has been working with the younger cheer team the past year and as an assistant with Coach Klopf for some time. We're excited for her to share her experiences throughout many years of cheer and her skill in relating to students. We're looking forward to seeing how she will continue to build the program. Coach Yancer is excited to work with the athletes and staff to bring even more PR to the Cheer team and its athletes. Please help her feel welcome.

The 6th graders have been working hard all fall weeding, harvesting, and cleaning the elementary raised beds in the land lab. Students work in pairs at a bed they chose to get them ready for planting this spring. Students noticed a need for more soil, so they put in a request to Mr. Fischer for more compost. Mr. Fischer ordered compost and Mrs. Lattimer used the tractor to put it in the beds for us. Thank you so much to both of you!
6th graders spread out the compost in the beds and planted garlic. Garlic grows best if planted in the fall, and will be ready to harvest in July.
Students will meet with their grade level partners (each grade gets two raised beds) to help their grade decide what to plant in the spring and how to take care of plants in a raised garden bed.

We LOVE seeing our kiddos repping Comet blue and white!!! Got some Comet pride photos to share? Send them to pr@colemanschools.net! #ColemanComets #GrowingForTheFuture

Happy School Psychologist's Week to our amazing psychologist, Ms. Christa Starkey-Brown! We greatly appreciate all you do and your knowledge about each student you've worked with over the years is impressive as well as how best to support them. Thanks for all you do!

Elementary students enjoyed the fall band concert during their visit to the high school last week. I wonder if there's any future band students in this group!

31aa categorical funding is from the State and supports Health (physical and mental) and now also includes Safety. In the past and on-going, we are using a portion of the 31aa funds to support our School Nurse, her materials/equipment and training she receives or provides.
The Safety funding used to be under Section 97 and is now moved to 31aa. Previous Safety funding was used to purchase updated bus cameras and stop arm camera systems, bus radios, additional door ID contact areas, TV camera system, PA system updates, building radios and safety signage for the buildings. Some of this has already been installed and some is on the way.
With the Health and Safety areas now being combined, we are seeking some additional input from parents, students, community and staff around areas they feel this funding could support. Please take a few minutes to read the information at the top and fill out the survey at this link to give your input: https://forms.gle/Guj3xwRczQEdiRwt5 Please complete the survey by Nov. 10th.
