Kalitta in Mr. Krabs' Office

Are you ready, kids? Meet Mr. Jesse Kalitta! He was a student teacher at Coleman last year, and was hired this year as a part-time Jr/Sr High Teacher and as a Jr/Sr High Interventionist. He is excited to officially be a part of the district and canโ€™t wait to see what this school year will have in store.

Why did you decide to become a teacher?

โ€œI came to a crossroads in college where I actually had to figure out what I was going to do with my life. I took some time to reflect on the most meaningful experiences in my life thus far and kept coming back to work I'd done that was directly related to education. I realized being a teacher was my calling.โ€

Whatโ€™s your secret talent?

โ€œI like to build and work on computers, and I haven't destroyed one doing so . . . yet.โ€

What do you do in your free time?

โ€œI like staying active; especially running. I really enjoy gardening/landscaping both on land and underwater. I spend too much time on the computer, and while a lot of it is work-related, I enjoy a good strategy game. I like watching sports, but college basketball is my favorite (behind Comet sports obviously.) In a sense, these all boil down to appreciating beautiful things.โ€

Whatโ€™s something youโ€™re learning about right now?

โ€œI'm trying to learn about photography, chess, and the workings of Tolkien's universe at the moment.โ€

What adjectives would you use to describe yourself?

โ€œBusy, curious, enthusiastic.โ€

Favorite movie?

โ€œGattaca/Lord of the Rings.โ€ (I did not ask him this question, he just wanted everyone to know he's a huge Lord of the Rings fan)
