Class of 2025 Graduation
May 18th, 2025
Spirits were high in the packed Jr/Sr High School gymnasium as the senior class entered the ceremony. The band played Pomp & Circumstance as each duo of students made their way down the aisle, fist bumping, high-fiving, and smiling.
Athena Brown (above) gave our welcome and introduction speech this year, and Killian D'Artagnan (below), Student Board Representative, was the emcee.
50 Year Graduates
It is an honored Comet tradition to invite back our "Golden Graduates;" Coleman High School graduates from 50 years ago! This year, we celebrated the Class of 1975 as they walked across the graduation stage for a second time to receive an honorary diploma. This year, we even had the pleasure of honoring two foreign exchange students that returned here after fifty years! A major thank you to the members of the Class of 1975 that still have that same Comet Pride as they did fifty years ago! We're so glad you came!
Keynote Speaker - Bruce Hadd
Do you remember Mr. Hadd? Not too long ago, he was a 6th grade teacher with us! He has since become an assistant principal at Standish-Sterling Central Jr/Sr High School, but this year's graduating class remembered him so fondly that they invited him to be this year's keynote speaker. The main point of his teary, heartfelt speech was to work hard and be kind - two things that will get you very far in life. Thank you for coming, Bruce!
Performances - Choir & Band
The choir and the band both did their final performances with the senior class.
The choir, directed by Jennifer Tallman, sang Closer to Fine by Saliers & Ray, honoring seniors Jasmine Kilonsky and Athena Brown.
The band, directed by Jim Burkhart, performed the pep band/marching band tune Timber by Pitbull & Kesha, and Hard Rock Blues, arranged by Lautzenheiser. The band honored seniors Kapre Lynch, Nora Brownlee, Emily VanSickle, Alexis Wright, Emma Staley, Maddy Simon, and Zach MacPhee.
Salutatorian Address - Lilliana Colmus
Lilly gave a lovely speech; reminiscing on good times and thanking those that helped her get to where she is today. She stressed how Coleman is more than just a school, it's home.
Valedictorian Address - Kapre Lynch
Kapre gave an impactful speech about how the Class of 2025 has persevered and learned so much along the way - and how there's so much more greatness in store for them.
Students laughed and cried during both speeches (a theme of the afternoon!)
Presentation of Diplomas
Turning of the Tassels
Jen McCormack gives a final address to the Class of 2025 - her "kids" - as she directs them to turn their tassels to signify their new status as Comet alumni!
Congrats, Graduates!
We are all so beyond proud of you. #ColemanCometPride
