We want to introduce our new Junior High Competitive Cheer Coach to the community. Lexie is a new coach to the Coleman Junior High family! She is also a wife, dog mom, business owner, and former varsity cheerleader at her alma mater. In her free time, Lexie also enjoys baking, watching old TV re-runs, and crafting. As a coach, Lexie aims to foster growth, teamwork, and grit. She can’t wait to see what the team can achieve this season! We are excited to have Coach Taylor joining us. For anyone interested in participating, practices will start up again Monday at the elementary school at 3:30. A physical is required and can be turned in to the office or an appointment can be made with the Family Health Center to get that taken care of. If you fill out the attached Google Form, we can work to get more information to you. https://forms.gle/bX61ZosHmUiS4ktc6

We want to introduce our new 8th-grade boys basketball coach, Lorenz Nelson, and welcome him to the Coleman community. From Coach Nelson: I am originally from Chicago Illinois, born and raised. I have always been around and involved in sports and I know how important a sport can be for kids. I played football, basketball, and ran track in high school, so I know what it means to be dedicated. For anyone interested in participating, tryouts will start on Monday at the Family Center at 3:15. A physical is required and can be turned in to the office, or an appointment can be made with the Family Health Center to get that taken care of. If you fill out the attached Google Form, we can work to get more information to you. https://forms.gle/bX61ZosHmUiS4ktc6

I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season and some rest. We have some JH sports getting going as soon as we get back to school and if you would like to be included in the tryout information or have other questions, here is a Google Form to let us know that your student is interested in participating. We have heard from some already, but we wanted to put this out to anyone who had not been made aware yet. https://forms.gle/Sp7JQZXHcuWDQCMz6

Varsity girls basketball hosted Merrill on Friday night with Chippewa Hills visiting to face the JV team. Both teams battled hard but came out on the losing end against two solid teams. In the varsity game, Emily VanSickle led the scoring with 9 points. Both teams are off until after the holidays when the varsity girls visit Ashley HS.

Congratulations to Coach Nick Katzinger who is coming back to work with our 7th grade boys basketball team as their coach this year! Coach Katz has over 20 years of experience coaching basketball, both boys and girls, and we are happy to have him work on the fundamentals and building numbers for one of our JH teams. #LEADLikeAComet

The elementary school enjoyed their annual Christmas Sing today and yesterday morning! As you can see, both the students AND staff were all decked out in their finest holiday gear (let us know which outfit/accessory you see is your favorite!). The staff also sang their personalized rendition of The 12 Days of Christmas, and we snuck in a special moment to recognize Deputy Hodges for his many years of service to the district, as he is retiring very soon. We included a picture of 6th grader Heidi, who continually looked over her shoulder to scowl at him (because - her words - she's going to miss him too much!) Happy Holidays, everyone! 🎄🎅🎁

Travis Murray signed to play baseball at Cleary University yesterday. We're proud that another Comet will play at the next level. This is a testament to his work and his family's support and dedication to get him there.

Boys basketball hosted Blanchard Montabella last night and came out with a 56-47 win. Jared DeVrieze led the way with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Colin Stockero kept up his hot shooting with 13 points and Aden Aultman pulled down 6 more rebounds on the night. The boys were in charge the entire night and fended off a tough Mustang team down the stretch. The JV team came up short, but gave Montabella a furious challenge.

We are excited to have two in one week. Senior Kapre Lynch is signing with Davenport University on Thursday in the auditorium at 11 am. From Kapre: I am very excited to announce my formal commitment to join the collegiate powerlifting team at Davenport University. First, I would like to thank all my family and friends who have supported me through this journey. Whether it be the long car rides, hours of waiting, or countless conversations about lifting, they’ve put up with so much. Next, my sincere thanks go out to my high school coach, Donnie Thomas. Without his support, I never would’ve started lifting in the first place. Finally, thank you, Coach Connor and Coach Maddy, for this amazing opportunity. Go Panthers!
