Welcome to Courtney Neiderquill, our new Varsity Boys' Basketball Coach! She brings with her a great deal of experience coaching both boys and girls basketball at various levels in the Saginaw area and Waterford. She also works with students in education during the day. She is prepared, knowledgeable in her game plans and practices, has already begun learning about our school and our team, and is really excited to get started. Coach Neiderquill emphasizes the all-around student athlete and how to help build leaders while building a program from the youngest of our students to our varsity team; she is interested in connecting with teachers to learn how students are doing in the classroom. Why did you decide to become a varsity basketball coach?
I have a great love for the game of basketball and really enjoy impacting the lives of students in ways other than academics. I’ve coached several years of both girls and boys basketball at lower levels, so this opportunity to do more in a town with potential like Coleman was exciting to me!
Do you have any prior connection with this school district or community?
I live in Midland - but wasn’t very familiar with Coleman before applying here.
What drew you to this opportunity?
The Comets Boys’ Basketball team is coming off of their winningest season they’ve ever had - it’s an exciting time to see the success of the students grow. There seems to be a lot of support from admin and the Coleman community, that makes a huge impact on our athletes.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I love the outdoors, watching sports, and traveling up north! My wife’s family is from Cheboygan, so we spend a lot of time up there together. I’ve also started going to some Comet football games and even worked at the concession stand already. It’s fun to go out and see my athletes shine in other areas besides basketball.
What adjectives would you use to describe yourself?
Energetic, dedicated, supportive
What's your secret talent?
I have a very vivid memory for sports highlights and statistics, right down to the date.
