Welcome to Mrs. Ashley DeJongh, one of our newest paraprofessionals! Mrs. DeJongh has worked in customer service and also has a very strong understanding of strategies that students with different needs react to best. Please help her feel welcome!
Here's more we learned about Mrs. DeJongh:
Why did you decide to become a paraprofessional?
I decided to become a paraprofessional because I have twin neurodivergent boys (one is Autistic and the other has ADHD) and I felt that everything that I have learned about neurodivergence would be very beneficial in working with the diverse students of the community.
Do you have any prior connection with this school district or community?
I moved to Coleman in the middle of tenth grade and graduated from Coleman High School.
What drew you to this opportunity?
Even though we don't currently live in Coleman, it's still home. I thought that my skill set would be of great value to the students of the community.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I have four children, so I don't have much free time. Much of my time is spent attending their sports and activities. When I carve out time for myself, I like to travel, workout, and spend time with friends and family.
What adjectives would you use to describe yourself?
Calm, quiet, insightful, inspirational
What's your secret talent?
I've always wanted to learn to play guitar, so I took the plunge and started acoustic guitar lessons two years ago. It has been a fun challenge to learn music (especially since I have no music background and played sports during my childhood).
