We have several new staff to welcome, as well as some current staff shifting into new roles!

☄️Mrs. Marie Zwemmer will be our full-time Jr/Sr High MTSS Coordinator starting soon; many of you already know Mrs. Zwemmer who has been one of our Ag teachers for 13 years along with supporting curriculum, CTE, Work-Based Learning, Assessment, English Learners and more. Mrs. Zwemmer is focused in this role on college and career ready students in every aspect of her work, the leadership roles she has taken on and her support of students in a variety of roles. Her understanding of the importance of relationships, teaching students skills that help them improve behaviors and the big picture of growth for students has helped to shape her ideas for this position. Her work ethic, organizational skills and commitment also stand out. Some of the areas that Mrs. Zwemmer has helped with in the past will continue while others will be shifted. Please congratulate Mrs. Zwemmer!

☄️Coach Tyler Germain will be moving from Varsity Assistant Football Coach to JV Head Football Coach this year. He clearly has the football knowledge necessary and connections with athletes. We are excited that he chooses to keep his talents with Coleman. Congrats Coach Germain!

☄️Mrs. Kailyn Salisbury will join us this year as our Jr/Sr High Counselor. Mrs. Salisbury has her Masters in Counseling and a Bachelors in Social Work. She has worked in a clinical setting for the past 4 years. She also has a clear understanding of involving teachers in discussions about students and scheduling, a focus on improving success in academics with support, as well as strengthening communication and a path for each student and their parents. Her personality is very positive and she will be a nice fit in the district. Please help Mrs. Salisbury feel welcome!

☄️Mrs. Leila Huckins is a new custodian with us! This fall, Mrs. Huckins will be on the afternoon shift at the Elementary. She also worked at CMU until she retired and she noted she was "too bored" staying at home, so that's a win for us! We're excited to bring her on board. Please help her feel a part of the Comet Team!

☄️ Mr. Chad Klopf will begin serving as our Interim Athletic Director! Coach Klopf has already met with administration and gotten started on a few things. We're really excited for him, as well as his excitement about the position and our discussions around his willingness to help all of the programs grow. The ownership he has shown for how to continue the processes and procedures established, the support he has gathered from many of his colleagues and students, as well as his interest in bringing all members of the community together and hearing their points of view will serve him well in this position. We're excited to have him on board and for all he'll be able to bring to the role. Mr. Klopf will continue as the varsity football coach this fall. Please help congratulate Mr. Klopf on this new position!

☄️ Congratulations to Chef Jacob Moore, who has accepted a position as Assistant JV Football Coach. In addition to Culinary, football has been another love of his since he was young and he played all through high school until an injury stopped him. He's excited to share his knowledge and love of the game with the athletes. We appreciate him bringing his expertise to the sport and working with our football athletes and coaches in the coming season. Congrats again, Coach Moore!

welcome new staff

Deputy Chas Wakeman continues as the School Resource Officer (SRO) at Coleman Community Schools this year and we're thrilled to hear it. Thanks to the passage of the renewal millage yesterday, the schools and our students and staff will have at least 4 more years of continued mentoring and increased safety in the buildings and at events like our football games. Thank you for the support! #LEADLIKEACOMET #community #SRO #FN5GL #sweepstakes @tmobile @colemancomets

To go along with their time with Junior Achievement, Third Grade went to the Coleman Area Library to participate in some financial literacy activities and got a free picture book about saving and spending. Here are some pictures from Mr. Liechty's class.

The 5th graders recently graduated from the DARE program led by Deputy Wakeman! Six students were chosen to read their essays about what they learned in DARE. All of the students received certificates and celebrated with AMAZING cupcakes baked by Mrs. Lynch. Great job 5th graders!

Mrs. Araway received such a kind message from Tyler Miller, Director of Aquatics at the Greater Midland Community Center, and we just had to share.

He shared that each of our classes has been “a joy to have in the building.” Students were described as patient, good listeners, and supportive of one another. One Community Center member even commented, “Look how well behaved they are while they’re here.” 💙

Tyler also gave kudos to our teachers and paraprofessionals for preparing students ahead of time on pool rules and locker room expectations — noting how challenging those spaces can sometimes be.

We are so proud of our students for representing our school so well in the community, and grateful for partnerships like this that give our kids meaningful experiences. 🏊‍♀️✨
