A big welcome to one of our newest additions to the Comet family, Ms. Macy Seifert! Ms. Seifert is our new part-time Special Education Secretary. Macy has worked with Gratiot-Isabella RESD previously where she worked with parents and community members who would call about IEPs and other needs, a Gratiot county newspaper, and helps to run her family's business. She also has a strong background in technology. We are so excited to have her with us!
I interviewed Macy so we all could get to know her a bit better:
Why did you choose to become a Special Education Secretary?
I love being around kids and working in a school setting. I knew I needed to jump on it when I saw this job was available!
Do you have any prior connection with this school district or community?
I do not - this community is still new to me. However, being from a small town myself, I feel compelled to help small towns like Coleman thrive.
What drew you to this opportunity?
During the interview process, I felt reassured that this district would always have my back - Coleman Schools just felt right! This job also aligns with my future career goals.
What do you like to do in your free time?
Write poetry, walk my Pomsky ‘Bean’, and coach volleyball! I’m the assistant coach for the freshman volleyball team at Ithaca (where I graduated!).
What adjectives would you use to describe yourself?
Optimistic, candid, and compassionate
What is your secret talent?
I’m a certified lash extension technician!
